Our mission is to promote sustainable practices, renewable energy, and environmental responsibility in the way we work, play and live.

To deliver on that mission, in 2015 GreenACTnv:

  • Arranged two locavore dinners, which are intended to encourage the community to “know your producer” and buy locally;
  • Sponsored a showing of “When the Water Tap Runs Dry” with a discussion on Carson Valley ground water supplies lead by Ed James of the Carson Water Subconservancy District and John Coburn, Water Resource Specialist with the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension;
  • Put together a trip to Fallon for a tour of the Frey Ranch Winery and Distillery;
  • Arranged a tour to the Jacobs Family Berry Farm in Gardnerville;
  • Coordinated a Lawn Replacement Forum that provided information on draught-sensitive landscaping alternatives from Wendy Hanson Mazet, Master Gardner Coordinator with UN Cooperative Extension.
  • Provided a forum for showing the movie “DamNation” and a discussion on the future of water management lead by Daniel P Beard, former Commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation and author of Deadbeat Dams.
